Historic breakfast nook makeover reveal! And sources

I visited this house once when I was a kid. With my mom, talking to the previous owners about some neighborhood association stuff. The only thing I remember is the built-ins in the breakfast nook. When we walked through the house 25 years later, I was delighted to see that of course they are still there and just as I remember them.

But the nook itself needed some updates. I painted it a couple years ago, which was fun, but it was still a little plain. I’ve put a lot of thought into the curtains and other elements and now it’s finally done!

Tudor Revival Breakfast Nook Reveal

Welcome to this sunny room. The sun comes up on this side of the house and sunlight streams into here on clear mornings.

I’ve gone back-and-forth on different window treatments here, but really we need the café curtains on the bottom for privacy, and then I block the more extreme temperatures on hot or cold days with these thermal blackout curtains at the entrance to the breakfast nook. Rather than block the entirety of these beautiful windows! These lovely semi patterned café curtains are from Pepper Home and they come in custom lengths and a couple different widths. And so many cute patterns!

The table is one I stumbled upon at Goodwill a couple years ago, and the chairs are metal and from Target six years ago, no longer available. But the seats were quite cold and not cozy, so I love these cushions from Greenrow in this light faded floral pattern. The crochet chargers are also from Greenrow, and they are so sweet to anchor the seating spots even when I don’t have the table fully set!

I had a relatively cool light fixture in here for years, but it wasn’t adding warmth or charm. I saw a scalloped rattan one in a charming little kitchen on Instagram and started searching, and found this company called Rowabi that has quite a few options for wicker woven shades and light fixtures. This is not sponsored, but they did give me a discount code for you guys: Suzannah20 gives you 20% off!

This is a great spot for plants so I’ve had some different potted plants in here seasonally. I just ordered some real topiaries so I will have to replace that faux one when they arrive!

That’s it! A fun little gem at the end of our galley style kitchen. (See the kitchen reno post from 2019 for more on that.)

Here's what it looked like when we bought the house! (Before tour here.)
