Four things to buy FIRST to get ready for the holiday season!
I get really overwhelmed by all the sales and shopping this time of year... but there are three things I've learned I have to check off my holiday shopping list right away!!
Four things to buy at the beginning of the holiday season
1. Holiday cards!!
It's fun to get into the Christmas season around Thanksgiving and take some holiday-esque photos at a tree farm or even just by some evergreen trees. Or, use beautiful family photos you already have, but with little ones I like to take pictures as close to Christmas as we can so they look like their actual age at the holidays!
I love getting holiday cards from Minted; all their designs are beautiful and created by independent artists in the Minted community. They even have designers proof your edits before printing, so you can move text boxes around etc. and they'll make sure it all lays out well. We chose this classic border card this year and on the back, Jason wrote a long Christmas letter.
My favorite thing about ordering from Minted, besides knowing I'll get great quality, is the free recipient addressing!!! It's SO easy and honestly makes it possible for me to be able to get cards out, with everything we have going on. I just upload an Excel file of my current address book (I keep it in Google Drive and then export before uploading, although Minted also keeps an address book for me!) and they print all of the addresses on pretty, matching envelopes for me. It's the best!!!
I like to order our cards as soon as possible and get that task checked off the list, so I can worry about other shopping later on in the season!
Also, TODAY thorough 9:00am Pacific Thursday 12/3, Minted’s Cyber Monday event is still going on and you can get 25% off all orders $200+, 20% off everything else, and free shipping with code CM25!
Minted did not sponsor this post, but provided holiday cards for my review.
2. Anything with a monogram.
We got Otto a personalized stocking last year (should have done it his first Christmas, I forget why we didn't) and this year we had another new member of our family and ordered another personalized, embroidered stocking! I've found Pottery Barn Kids has them on sale this time of year, BUT they sell out fast!! Both years my first choice has sold out before I could order. I still love both of the ones we've ordered. They're a nice quality wool/polyester blend and lined. Here's the one I got for Lucy this year.
Because these sell out fast and require the extra step of a monogram, get your order in early! Same thing with any personalized gifts. The last day for shipping by Christmas is often around December 10 for personalized things!
3. Wrapping supplies.
These sell out so fast too! The cute/trendy ones at Target especially, I've learned! I hate being stuck close to Christmas scrounging what's left over in the wrapping paper bins at JoAnn. HomeGoods is also a great place to buy wrapping supplies, and they put them out around Halloween so you can start really early if you want.
Here are a few faves from this year.
4. Craft project supplies!
I made these wooden bead garlands last year and I had to drive to three JoAnn stores to get enough beads. I bought this value pack last year, and I saw them back in stock a couple days ago but they're already gone this year again.
Aside from selling out fast, you'll probably want to get crafty decor projects done by the time you get your tree up!
Here's a similar option and a jute cord like I used. This was a really fun TV watching craft project!
Hope this is helpful! Happy holiday preparation!!
