My Black Friday weekend shopping strategy (and favorite sale items!)
Nowadays, Black Friday starts even before Thanksgiving. I know that doesn't make sense, but you'll see "Black Friday deals start now!" on tons of websites.
I used to do in-person Black Friday shopping because for a few years there I guess it was novel and fun... but I definitely don't have time or capability to do that now! So I shop a few favorite retailers online starting on/around Thanksgiving day.
My goals for Black Friday shopping are both finding gifts, and catching up buying things for Jason and me that I've neglected buying since summer sometimes! I need some more jeans, I look for deals on real leather shoes that come in wide widths, that sort of thing. So you'll see some sales for practical shopping as well as gifts in the list below! Plus, now I am on the hunt for a few things for our not-yet-fully-furnished home so I look at home sales for us, too.

My Black Friday weekend shopping strategy
I keep a Google Docs spreadsheet of recipients, gifts, and how much I've spent so far. I start it usually sometime in the fall or as I think of gift ideas for hard-to-buy-for family members. So as the Black Friday sales start, I open up my spreadsheet.
Next, I check back at favorite retailers I've shopped before. For example, the past several years I know Old Navy has done 40-50% off everything and World Market has had 30-50% off online for throw pillows, toys, ornaments, candles, mugs, and BASKETS!--all things I might want to buy for myself or others! (THIS is my favorite mug!)
Then I set a time limit and open up lots of tabs where I look for things on the gift spreadsheet, and look for ideas to fill in more of the recipients. I also keep a mental list of pieces for our home I've been interested in, and check if they are on sale!
