Bedroom makeover design with eBay Home

This post was sponsored by eBay.

Our bedroom in our temporary apartment has been really bumming me out. I've been planning on treating myself to some new pieces when we find our next house, but in the meantime I think I need to buy at least a few pieces to keep our room from being so bland-apartment-depressing.

I do a LOT of online shopping and mood board-ing before I buy anything so I can get a feel for how things will look together. On my mind right now are nightstands and a headboard or a real bed frame. I found a TON of options on eBay for styles like I've been seeing in my inspirations and elsewhere online. Inspirations and mood boards coming up!!

First, the fun part--the inspirations. A little west coast/beachy, a little funky vintage, definitely muted/lots of neutrals. Almost all of these inspirations have upholstered headboards, patterned wool rugs, layered bedding, big photos above the bed, and brass sconces. It's reassuring when you keep liking the same things!

Okay, here goes... our room. It's BAD right now!! I'm embarrassed to share. Here's the "before." Mishmash of pieces we had in our last house in different rooms, NO styling done (just piles of books--also we don't have a bookcase so a bunch of Jason's are piled up), no headboard, low metal bed frame. Bleh.

(I'm not sure what color our walls are but it's a warm, slightly green-ey grey. In our next home I'm sure I'll paint everything white until I go room by room with some updates. So picture my concepts on a white background as well!)

Here's me and my 39-week baby bump. Accepting what our room is for now but definitely excited to move forward!

Right now we have baby's bassinet in here. In our next place we will set up the crib in a nursery... cannot wait for that!

So, the shopping. I looked into the actual pieces for my fave nightstands and beds in my inspirations and man, nightstands are expensive. Those actual ones are either sold out or $600-3,400 each, no joke. I would much rather spend like $150 each!! But I still want something stylish.

I've been looking around online and found a bunch of good choices on eBay, for nightstands and beds, and rugs, sconces, etc.--I found everything in the collage below on eBay and great prices! They have brands you already know and love, too, like IKEA, Restoration Hardware, Ashley, and more.

I didn't realize eBay has free shipping on almost everything (76% of furniture items ship for free), and they have 12 million home items, with almost 1 million new ones added each week. Hence the great selection.

Here are my mood boards--I like to include the inspirations in the same visual so you can bounce around and get the vibe, even just from flat images on a white background.

Lots of options!! Check out eBay’s Furniture and Décor for even more.

Some things I found when shopping on eBay:
  • HUGE selection. Lots of search tools, too, so it was easy to go by category and refine within it for style, color, size, price, etc.
  • Tons of familiar pieces and brands. I've been browsing beds and nightstands elsewhere a long time and found a lot of the same ones on eBay, sometimes WAY cheaper.
  • A lot of the big retailers I'd been shopping at also sell direct on eBay and offer special storewide coupons and exclusive deals--like Overstock, Wayfair, The Mine, Hayneedle...!
One more in our existing mishmash/mess. I think we deserve some new things!! I'd love to hear your faves from my mood board in the comments below!
