Design, make, & live: KITCHENS
Then in our fixer upper, we did a less than $2k kitchen update that made that small kitchen really awesome! For our next house... I think I might be up for a kitchen gut. I have been known to design kitchens in the IKEA kitchen planner for fun. And I am SO excited for my friends who are getting ready to redo their 1961 home's kitchen - and hope I can help!
So, I had a lot to say talking to Ashley about form vs. function in kitchens and elements of design, construction (DIY or hired out), and the role kitchens play. From large to small (budget-wise), there are so many things you can do to update a kitchen.
Ashley and I talk all about kitchens in episode 13 of the Your Home Story podcast!
There is SO much you can do to a kitchen--rip out and start from scratch, or just update art/plants, countertops, backsplash, lighting, hardware!... so many options. We talk through budget and considerations for all of them.

Ashley has also done a kitchen update, reusing her cabinet bases but painting and doing new doors, tile, etc. See Ashley’s Before and After Kitchen Reveal and my Before and After Kitchen Reveal. Want to see more inspiration and budget breakdowns? We love Anna’s full kitchen reno with her her follow-up on how to remodel a kitchen.
