It's nice to meet you! Let's talk about fave home things!
Today we're answering the question "What do you like to do at home?"! So here's my answer, and 6 photos or quotes for you.
So first of all, you gotta know I am a homebody. Like, hardcore. I looooooooove being home and not doing anything, although these days this rarely happens. I think there was a while there in college when I felt bored being at home and liked being out, but that time was short-lived, and I'm convinced the real me has a lot in common with the quintessential 90-year old grandmother who sits and sews in her comfy chair with her thick frame glasses and NPR on in the background. I like comfort.
So you would think this would be the perfect question for me! But, alas, it's not this time. The other thing is, I'm moving in, like, a week. OMG. So my current home is not representative of what I normally do at home, so will you forgive me if I use (properly cited) Pinterest images to tell you about me at home???
This question is also kinda perfect, I guess, because the new place is far from complete and I'll need to do some serious soul-searching and decorate from scratch!! An entire house, aaaah! We're not keeping a lot of our (crappy) furniture so I need to buy new. So, how about my dreams of what I'd like to do at home??
1. Sleep. I love bedroom decor sooo much (I even have a pinboard called "I love bedrooms", and in the vein of comfort... I'm hoping I can have the perfect bedroom in the new place. Of course, I can't decide between a million ideas!
2. Chill in the kitchen. I love to make food in a beautiful kitchen (never had one before but hope I soon will!), but I also just love to be in a kitchen. The center of the house is so important! Dictates the vibe of the whole house, right? I like being in the center of the action, and often that's the main floor, big room, like the kitchen. I leave NPR on almost all the time and enjoy hearing whatever or whoever is on, while I make lunches, blend up a dessert, or read a new magazine.
I always wanted a white kitchen, but our builder didn't offer white cabinets. Boo. So, I'm trying to teach myself how dark can be nice, too, adding them to my dream kitchens board. Ideas...
3. Duh. Sew! You're reading this blog, so you must know a little about me. I love to create things!! I enjoy reading, listening to music, looking at blogs and magazines, etc., too, of course, but I really feel great when I make something from nothing! So I'm really excited for the new craft room in the new house, and wondering how I can lay everything out to be a really useful space. Lots of inspiration out there--I have a board for sewing/craft rooms, too! Some pretties...
Now, what about you?? And, any tips on how I can pick a common theme for the house and choose between all the lovely ideas I've been staring at and pinning for almost a year?!

ReplyDeleteUm, let me say how mindblowingly awesome it is to see my craft room on your blog. I was over at Shrimp Salad Circus (a blog I regularly stalk, tee-hee)and saw the picture in your link. ReplyDeleteGreat images! I really like the "Let's Stay Home" print and I would die to have either of those sewing rooms in my home...although it would be a craft room for me since I can't sew ;)

Blogs do that, don't they?! Photo editing takes a long time, too!
DeleteThanks!
I would love to learn to sew. I've been thinking about taking a class at the local community college! I can relate to number 1. I am in the process of decorating my bedroom and I have yet to make concrete plan. So many ideas!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I would love to take some classes somewhere, to learn new things like pro Photoshop skills... I'm sure there are great sewing classes out there! And yes, it is so hard to pick one thing to stick with for decorating.. aah!
DeleteSo exciting about the new house! Can't wait to see pictures! And NPR is my go-to channel in the kitchen as well. My favorite program is This American Life... although I have to say I have ruined a few recipes because I get so distracted by the stories!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll definitely be sharing pictures! I'm an NPR junkie, love This American Life and Fresh Air and Radiolab!
