Buying a house is stressful!! But, here are some pics.
We are dying of excitement, though. I can't wait till we have our inspection next week (hopefully) and get to see the inside of the house for real. Last time I shared pics, and last time I went inside, we had cabinets and some floors but not much really, and there were no doors on the cabinets. Now, the doors were all locked last time I was there, but look at it coming along! (through the window...)
I have also spent literally hours on Craigslist in the past week, shopping around for the perfect... well, almost everything. I also sold our leather IKEA (via Craigslist) couch and our cute vintage table and chairs, and listed some other things, too. So I'm still coming out way ahead, but I've bought dining chairs, bar stools, and more dining chairs. You'll see, it's gonna be great! I think.
It's sooo hard to pick things out before I've ever seen the space completely done, so it's probably pretty stupid of me to try, but I'm so excited and want it to look as done as possible as soon as possible! I am planning to wait before buying the big ticket items, although I have my eye on the perfect couch from Macy's and the perfect rug from Overstock, just not sure if they'll work. And if we'll have any money left after buying the house. J/k. I think. ;)
But, the house is almost done, and less than a week till I get to see the inside and all the colors and finishes. It was exciting to see through the window because I think we have our floors in already, though covered in protective paper. Oh! And we have landscaping!!
Cannot wait. Aaaah! =)
Wow! Your house is turning out great! You must be so excited!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Dying of excitement!!
DeleteThis last stretch is sooo exciting! I can't wait to follow your decorating journey...
ReplyDeleteMe too, haven't been planning ahead much but sooo excited for what will come!
DeleteWere also in the middle of buying a house and the process is so exiting! Your new place looks great, were moving into a 1930s english terrace house but the Brit process takes 8 weeks!
ReplyDeleteI'm getting very impatient!
Hope everything goes well! x
Oh, congratulations, that sounds wonderful!! Lots of waiting though!
DeleteBetween buying a house and actually moving in after renovations it took me 7 months! Funny how time is relative!
DeleteYAY! Very exciting. I remember how stressful it was when i bought my house a few years ago - a lot of ups and downs! And then after I closed on the house there were still always unexpected things to take care of. (Read the home inspection carefully and make sure they fix everything that needs to be changed, even on new homes). The day i moved in, the fridge started leaking, AHHHH! The icemaker had not been turned on when we did the inspection, and then they hooked it up incorrectly right before i moved in. Water all over the kitchen floor and i was in tears. I can laugh at it now (plus i went out and bought a brand new fridge). Expect the unexpected, ha ha! But it's worth it! Stay positive and happy decorating!
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I will try to remember every little detail but it is hard when there's the WHOLE HOUSE to inspect! I'm excited for the inspection and walk-throughs, and hopefully they fix everything!
DeleteSo excited for you, and I can't wait to see how you decorate. Congratulations on your new house!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's looking great! How exciting to plan and choose new decor to make the house your own.
ReplyDeleteI have never had the thrill of buying a house before! Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to see more; I'm sure your home is going to look PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! Inspection and first and final walk-throughs scheduled for next week!!!
ReplyDeletethank you so much
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on the home buying (I'm a NYC renter). It's exciting to read about!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I recently bought a sofa from Macy's (the Elliot in Vintage). My advice there would be:
They had more options in the store then online, so it may be worth checking out in person.
Buy your model on while it is on sale (there seem to be sales for any sort of holiday).
Get the furniture protection plan. Within 2 weeks of owning ours I got Sharpie on it... I called it in and they are mailing us a new seat cushion. :)
Nice home design. If possible i would like to live here. I like it very much.
ReplyDeleteCool house!I think it's so much affordable to live in.
