Okay, so, let's talk about the great clothes on Pan Am...
I've been watching Pan Am, which just started this season, and I just feel like it's not getting enough press in the blog world for the cute clothes! So here's some inspiration for you, from ABC's Pan Am photos.
Look at the pleats on this skirt!
More cute pleat details, and two dresses we would totally wear today...
OMG, these colors! Love!
It's somehow always summer on the show... and if it's not, they're flying to tropical countries. Handy.
Love the lace dress.
So, you know what I'm talking about?! Have you seen the show? And, I'm curious--what do you do with all this vintage-ey inspiration? It just makes me wish I had more parties to go to, because I don't wear full-skirted dresses and perfectly pinned curls every day! ;)
These photos make me feel like a covetous shrew.
ReplyDeleteI have to confess I prefer Pan Am to Mad Men…and yes, I love the clothes :)
ReplyDeleteThe fashion and hairstyles are my favorite thing about the show! Did you see the Pan Am hat I made for Halloween?
ReplyDeleteNo but I just checked it out! So cute! Great idea!
DeleteSWOON! I love all of these! I started to watch Pan Am, after I saw them on the View, but couldn't get into it. Now I feel like I should watch at least for the fashion inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love the square neckline on Christina Ricci...I tried to make one on a dress and it didn't turn out right...any tips?I think part on the problem was my large chest...
ReplyDeleteHmm, maybe just make sure your darts are right, maybe using a full bodice pattern rather than something with a low neckline?
DeleteI love the clothes on their show!!! Sometimes my friends and I will have vintage-y themed parties so we have an excuse to dress up full retro style
ReplyDeleteSounds like so much fun!
DeleteI'm with suzy on this, I'm more pan am than mad men too. I love the clothes on this program they give me so many ideas, I hope they do a second series (if only for the clothes haha!)
ReplyDeleteI notice there's a mad men sewing challenge going on over at juliabobbin, I would love it if someone did a pan am one too!
I love watching Pan Am and New Girl for the clothes. The main character on Pan Am has a similar body type to mine (busty!), so I get inspiration for the outfits she's dressed in.
ReplyDeleteI love the clothes on this show, but there's something about them that looks a bit more costume-y to me than the clothes on Mad Men...I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's just because I prefer Mad Men, I found Pan Am didn't quite have the same depth and couldn't really get into it. But I have been swooning over the dresses. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I see what you mean... some of the dresses, like I said above, look like they could be sold today!
DeleteOMGGGGG SUPER CUTE OUTFITS!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a complete coincidence, I made a red dress the other day and it looks very similar to the red dress in the first and second picture!
My dress is red, has a full skirt and collars!!
I blogged it here...http://www.sewmelove.com/2012/03/but-peter-how-do-we-get-to-never-land.html
LOVE it! So cute! The one above has very weird pleating going on, though... I love the collar on yours!
DeleteI am so with you on this. I love Pan Am on so many levels, but particularly the clothes. I've only just started to watch Mad Men and I am finding it a slow burn, but will persevere for the clothes.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping ABC bring it back for more series...still "up in the air" though ha!
Cool! Yeah, Mad Men definitely moves slower, but does have great clothing and set design. High quality TV!
DeleteI love Christina Ricci and am bummed the show didnt make it. I think the costumes look costumey because they arent spot on historically- too tight, colors, etc. There is alarming lack of hats and undergarments (you can tell when the clothes are too tight). I think those outfits are darling and I wish there were more mid century themed shows on!
ReplyDeleteThey do look more costumey than Mad Men, you're right... still very pretty, though!
DeleteSo sad it didn't make it to season 2!
Awesome post!
ReplyDeleteI read your blog every week.
Thanks!
DeleteI've only seen Pan Am because we don't have Mad Men on tv here, at least to my knowledge. I love the dresses in the show and am a bit sad that the season just ended here... I would love to have some of those dresses, they always look amazing...
ReplyDeleteMad Men is on Netflix, and maybe Hulu?
DeleteI LOVED the light grey dress that Christina Ricci wore with the hot pink hat in the third photo! That was hands down my favorite outfit of the whole show. I think it might have been canceled, so we'll have to just enjoy what we've seen so far. But we won't be too starved, since Mad Men starts tomorrow! Yahoo!
ReplyDeletei think that this show was created because of the success of mad men. on this show, there was one or maybe two times when the main male character had a fling with a flight attendant. the women seem very similar. this may have inspired pan am. i love the dresses in both.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. I love the outfits on this show. I sometimes wish we could still dress like this all the time and not have it be weird, but then sometimes I remember how comfy my sweats are. Ha ha. I love Pan Am though. I hope it continues. I hate starting up a new show and then they cancel it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and that we're able to wear jeans and still look cute and fashionable. We have so many more options now!
DeleteSounds like it may have been canceled, so sad!!
