Before winter's over! A JCrew-ey glitter clutch
They also had wallets, not sure when... and of course now they have glitter belts, iPhone cases, the works!
Anyway, I had a glitter/ModPodge phase (remember my DIY Christian Louboutin glitter heels? Awesome project...), and in, uh... February or March of 2010, I finally got around to glitter-ing this wallet I had. White leather wallet, got it at Goodwill Outlet.
Added a blend of ModPodge mixed with glitter and painted it on with a foam brush thing. So pretty!
I did both sides of the outside.
Although I probably should have posted this before New Year's Eve. Oops.
Point being, if you want something glitter-ey, DIY it! I highly recommend mixing ModPodge with glitter from JoAnn and spreading it on. The glitter doesn't fall off at all, and it's still plenty shiny and almost smooth to the touch. And this thing has lasted two years, and it's still looking okay!
Have you been into glitter this winter? Do any fun sparkly projects? ;)
I think glitter is good all year round! I love the simple steps. I might have to try it soon!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever commented on your blog, but now that I started my own, I know how much I love comments. Your philosophical post in the end of December about DIYing got me thinking and writing in this blog that I started many years ago, so Thank You!! I've read your blog for a few years and you were one of my inspirations. My blog doesn't have much direction right now, but I'm at least keeping it up and getting used to writing almost daily, so there's a start. Anyway, I LOVE glitter (all year around). I recently did two posts about glitter- one project that I did http://lightingtheworldonfire.blogspot.com/2012/01/diy-with-glitter-best-kind.html
ReplyDeleteAnd one project that a friend did for me http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=8909895614099195915#editor/target=post;postID=8688129410035862428
And I also loved reading about your wedding. We got married at about the same time so I enjoyed your inspiration. I also DIY'd a ton (but not dresses- they all were amazing!)
That looks really pretty! Well done.
