Rug-shopping help!
For ages I've loved this rug from West Elm but am not quite ready to spend the big bucks.
I've seen it look so cute in so many rooms! Love the chevrons and for something big enough for a whole room, buying rather than DIYing sounds like the more lasting choice for me.
Looking for a cheaper option, I checked out Overstock.com and RugsUSA.com. I found this one on RugsUSA:
But they're out of a lot of colors and sizes.
Anyone know of a good source for modern, geometric print rugs (preferably 100% wool) at good prices?
Check out Costco - we had a lovely one -wool and silk. My mum bought it as a Christmas pressie a few years ago. Not too pricy either.
ReplyDeleteIkea has some good options
ReplyDeletehow about this rug from urban outfitters? :) http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=20659470&color=004&itemdescription=true&navAction=jump&search=true&isProduct=true&parentid=APARTMENT
ReplyDeleteI second Heather. Try IKEA.
ReplyDeleteWe have a weekend swap-meet near us that always has tons of rugs! Maybe you have something similar near you?
ReplyDeleteOverstock and Wayfair always have great deals on rugs... you have to dig but there are plenty of gems! Here's one similar to the grey one in your post: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-tufted-World-Classic-Bluish-grey-Wool-Rug-5-x-8/4817426/product.html
ReplyDeleteHomegoods at Cascade Station near Ikea has great prices on rugs (e.g. 3-400ish for 8X11 hand tufted wool.) It's hit or miss, though. I stalked that place for about four weeks to find my rug. I think they told me they get new deliveries on Tuesdays and Fridays (but that was over a year ago.) Worth checking out, i think.
ReplyDeleteThis site (homedecorators.com) has lots of choices for all types of decor.

Ikea and HomeDecorators.com. Also, a small locally-owned decor shop near our house sells floor samples for 1/2 off (or more!) periodiclly, so if you see one you like on display at a store ask them if they do something similar.
ReplyDeleteI've had good luck with HomeDecorators.com - wide variety of styles and colors (and materials - some wool, some other fibers).
ReplyDeleteIkea, Ikea, Ikea! We just bought a rug from there for our living room. It's 100% wool and was very affordable. It's very geometric - there were tons of options of patterns/styles. Good luck in your rug hunting! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, readers!!
ReplyDeleteI love those Urban Outfitters ones... I should check them out at the store! And I'm finding more good stuff on Overstock and IKEA... guess I just wasn't thorough enough! Still will drool over Madeline Weinrib ones.
Suzannah, you are always going to drool over the Madeline Weinrib ones .... ;) Me too. Don't forget to check out the indoor / outdoor rugs. Some of them are great and on clearance this time of year. www.ballarddesigns.com has some yummy ones. Also check out www.textilemuseumshop.org

I didn't notice that you'd been to RugsUSA till I came back to post a message. I'm not associated with them in any way except buying several rugs from them (and getting ready tobuy more). I found 2 rugs that look like they would give you the look you want. http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/clearancerugs/rugs-usa-houndstooth/black/200AFGD32B-508.html#tabsArea is 100% wool, $279.00 for 5' X 8' and $489.00 for 7' 6" X 9' 6".
ReplyDeletehttp://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/milliken-vibe/techno-black/2795568315-54078.html#tabsArea is nylon, but has the chevron look you want. $165.00 for 100% nylon 5' 4" X 7' 8" and $319.00 for 7' 8" X 10' 9". Shipping is free (both ways) and fast.
I would also second Christie's recommendation of ballarddesigns.com. I bought 2 small and 1 larger outdoor rugs from them for my bathroom about 5 years ago. I don't remember much about their prices, and I do remember that shipping was a little slow, but the rugs look great! Oh, and Ikea has some nice rugs at a good price.
Good luck!
Kay
Before you buy any rugs go to http://high-heelfootinthedoor.blogspot.com/2010/04/diy-chevron-rug.html it is a how to on making a chevron rug much like the one you admire. ReplyDeleteTuesday Morning always has a bunch of rugs when I swing by (it's kind of like TJ Maxx or Ross, but with no clothing). There is one over by the Hollywood Theater and another out in Beaverton near Jesuit High School. (There's another in the suburbs, but I can't remember where.) My favorite is the Hollywood one because it's in a basement and has a neat vibe.
ReplyDeleteThe Ikea Stockholm Rand rug has that black and white thing going.
