Guest post--home dec with DIY details!
Hello all, Mari here for Design Shuffle, a fantastic social networking site for those who love interior design, professionals and enthusiasts alike. Thank you Suzannah for inviting me and Design Shuffle to share some of our favorite interior design ideas that include dressmaker details! As in great fashion design, dressmaker details in décor—pleats, ruffles, piping, buttons, ruching, fringe and many more—add stylish finishing touches that take a design from lovely to stunning. Whether on a little black dress, a ball gown or in a gorgeous interior space, we love dressmaker details!

What girl could resist any of these frilly pillows? As seen here, ruffles can circle, swirl or form intriguing intricate patterns. Lovely and appealing.

Going from fussy and girly above to simply stylish here, beautiful dressmaker details are easily spotted in this carefully designed living room. The button tufted sofa with feminine fringe is filled with toss pillows that show off beautifully restrained dressmaker details in piping and trim.

Annie Brahler is known for her Euro Trash style and her fabulous dressmaker details. Here in a blue dining room filled with decorating ideas, her slipcovered chairs show off tassel fringe and piping.
The Enchanted Home via
Lots of dressmaker details to admire here, but we're most intrigued by the deep kick pleats on the sofa.
House of Turquoise via
The lime striped drapes with their smocked tops in this traditional dining room are so very reminiscent of the smocked yokes on baby girl dresses and baby boy rompers back in the day. A true dressmaker detail that once took hours to create by hand.

Like the gathered skirt on a simple gown, the full gathers of these pale gray slipcovers that sweep the floor are dressmaker details that translate beautifully into interior design.
My Pink Sketchbook via
From pleated ruffles to sleek flanges and monograms on the bedding, this space shows just how stunning dressmaker details can look in a bedroom design.
House of Turquoise via
And just because we love it… What could be more fun than a hot pink chair in a turquoise bath? Dressmaker details include a gathered skirt, piping and a satin bow. Not something we see every day.
