In October 2016 we bought a 90's 2-story home that had been a rental for 10+ years and was damaged and smelly--but altogether sound. We immediately began renovations throughout the entire home, including drywall repair, new paint and floors, lighting upgrades, and kitchen and bathroom remodels. (We planned to stay in this home for a long time, but plans changed. Then changed again, and then again. We are now living in and working on our next home/project, the Stanley Tudor--Revived!)
